K. Aalerud with friends, ventured over to Canada in search for deep snow and remote wooden huts. Their favorite ended up being the Arthur O. Wheeler Hut – four km southwest of Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park, British Columbia.

The hut was built in 1947 and named for Arthur Oliver Wheeler, who together with Elizabeth Parker and Stanley Mitchell, founded the Alpine Club of Canada. Since its completion the hut has seen numerous upgrades and renovations, but remains rich in charm and history.
